Town President Dominick, Representative Hernandez, and Others Honored at Family Service Annual Meeting
Town President Larry Dominick, State Representative Lisa Hernandez, and a number of longstanding board members were honored at the Annual Meeting of Family Service and Mental Health Center of Cicero held on October 16, 2008. Dominick and Hernandez were conferred with Honorary Board Member status for serving as Co-Chairs of the 2008 Annual Campaign, as well as their overall support of the services provided by the agency. President Dominick has served as Honorary Annual Campaign Chair for the agency for the past four years.
Six previous board members were also awarded Honorary Board Member status for their active and longstanding involvement with the organization as members of the Board of Directors. They include Chris Berkos, Rita Berkos (Past President), Barry Cannizzo, Jim Heelan, Helen Heelan (Past President), and Jean Rehor (Past President).
Also honored at the event for longstanding service as members of the agency staff were Kathy Allen, M.A. (20 years of service) and Barbara Such, Psy.D. (15 years of service).
Dennis Raleigh, current Board President, presided over the award ceremony and the Annual Meeting which followed. Elected as Officers for FY2009 were Dennis Raleigh – President, Diane Johnson – Vice President, Bob Peiler – Treasurer, and Melissa Ditkowich – Secretary. Elected to three-year terms as members of the Board were Michelle Bednarz (re-elected), Bob Peiler (re-elected), and Barrett Marlar. Stan Loula conducted the installation of the newly elected Officers and Directors.
Total expenditures of the organization for FY2008 were $1,038,227 on revenues of $1,080,227.
Agency accomplishments during FY2008 included the following:
- Provided over 8,500 hours of service (over 13,000 visits) to 1,039 adults and 332 children.
- Hired a bilingual child psychiatrist and increased services to children.
- Completed a strategic plan with funding support from the Chicago Community Trust.
- Implemented the Supporting School Success program with funding support from the Chartered Foundation.
- Collaborated with other area agencies to obtain the United Way Latino Initiative Grant.
- Provided internships for 4 graduate students in social work and psychology.
- Received the highest level of accreditation from the Commission on
Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
